If you're looking for a little holiday cheer, or just something to get you out of the house - you should definitely stop by Denver Botanic Gardens both Chatfield and Denver. The Trail of Lights at Chatfield is beautiful and the Blossoms of Light in Denver is always a classic! As soon as you walk into the Chatfield location you are greeted by a beautiful canopy of lights and a cozy fire pit to get you nice and toasty. As you continue along the Trail of Lights, there are a ton of interesting and artistic displays as well as traditional decor to keep you entertained. Halfway around the trail is a warming house so you can stop in and warm your hands again. I recommend picking up hot chocolate near the fire pit to help along the way. My favorite part was by far the kids' play area and I don't even have kids! The trees wrapped in green and white mixed with all of the other decor made me feel like I was in a Dr. Seuss story. There is also a giant Cottonwood tree that is stunning. Every branch is wrapped in a different color and it takes a minute to really get your eyes to understand what is going on. For a finale, you pass a row of trees draped in silver and gold lights that look so rich and decadent, like they are already ringing in the new year. There are tractors pulling hay rides full of families and music playing throughout the park. The Denver location is beautiful as well but this park is a little bigger and it is really stunning to see such an expanse of lights on a cold dark night. I can't wait to go back!

I came here for the first time during the Lavender festival - which was great! After spending all my money on soaps and smelly things, I took a walk around the grounds to see the plant life. I love the York St. location and Chatfield doesn't hold a candle to it as far as beauty and plethora of flowers. What they did have was tons of edible plants. I enjoyed the gardens and edible display boxes. They even have a historic building with tours - I didn't go in because of the line. They even have a playground for kids. What they don't have is a lot of flowers, but maybe I was there during the dry season.

gjp1555 Denver, Colorado Level Contributor 11 reviews 22 helpful votes “Great for little kids.” Reviewed December 24, 2016 If you want to see spectacular Christmas lights go to the Botanic Gardens in Denver. This is one a little underwhelming after you have been to the other gardens. But it does have kid specific lights and the tall blue and green tree near the beginning is spectacular. It would be nice to see more like this. Helpful? Thank gjp1555 Report

Chatfield Farms, among many activities here grows seven acres of vegetables, flowers and fruit along the banks of Deer Creek in Jefferson County. The land has been in agricultural production since 1866, restoring its heritage in many different ways is our vision. Our mission of continuing to foster a resilient farm by building soil health, restoring the creek and native grasslands is carried out by creating a community centered around food and nature.

Came here for a wedding a few weekends ago, and what a nice wedding it was! The grounds are gorgeous, of course, beautifully landscaped and creatively laid out. Definitely one of the best wedding venues I've ever been to. There's a lovely lawn with a gazebo for the ceremony, cocktail hour on the patio, and a large dining hall where we had dinner. There were even Botanic Gardens staff members to escort elderly guests using a golf cart and to direct foot traffic. My nephews also really enjoyed exploring the grounds, and found a large playground to occupy their attention most of the evening (so thankful for a wedding where the children didn't misbehave out of boredom!). The one downside is that the creek and ponds made for a lot of mosquitoes after dark. Even though the wedding party thoughtfully provided bug spray, I still discovered almost a dozen bites the following morning.
