The Paldea region of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is full of colorful and memorable characters.
Even though the Pokemon series is about catching and training cute monsters, each new episode always introduces a new group of characters.
Scarlet and Violet is no different, and its interesting story and memorable cast make it even better. As you travel through Paldea, you’ll meet a lot of different people, and each of them will have a different reason for going after their goals.
As is the case with most Pokemon games, you are the main character, but you don’t talk much. This means that most of the story’s strength comes from the details of the secondary characters. Even though it’s called Pokemon, the show is just as much about the people in it as it is about the Pokemon that live there.
Nemona

Nemona is your friendly opponent throughout the game, and she is always there to help you as you try to become a Champion. Nemona is a rival who, unlike in previous games, was already a Champion before the game started. Her goal is to help you improve as a trainer so that one day you can compete with her on an equal level.
Nemona is a great guide for new trainers and has a fun personality. People in the Pokemon League respect her because she is the youngest Champion in Paldea.
Director Clavell
The Academy is run by Director Clavell, who is a bit strange. He is one of the first people you meet, and you can choose him as your first Pokemon partner. Clavell seems to have a personality that makes sense for someone in his position.
But early in the story against the bad Team Star, he shows his other self, Clive, who has a pompadour. So, he can help you figure out what’s going on with Team Star and their mysterious leader.
Clavell is a mentor character who is not a Pokemon professor, which is different from other games. Clavell wears either an orange suit in Scarlet or a blue suit in Violet, depending on which version you choose.
Arven
Arven is a hardworking chef and explorer who is always looking for the rare Herba Mystica. He is also a student at the Academy, and he loves having picnics in the open air. At first, Arven is wary of other people and doesn’t tell them much about himself.
But as the story goes on, Arven and you become friends and he tells you about his troubled past. His goal to get all of the Herba Mystica is one of the three main story lines you can choose from when you start the game.
Arven will be with you every step of the way as you explore the world and meet the Titan Pokemon that guard the Herba Mystica plants.
Penny

Penny is one of your classmates at the Academy. Her multicolored hair and fluffy Eevee backpack make her stand out. She is very shy, but she is very good with computers and technology. Early on in the game, you have to save her from a pair of Team Star bad guys. Even though Penny is quiet, she has a big secret that you will learn about as the story goes on.
She has to do something because of things that happened in the past, and your part in the story is very important for her to reach her goal. Penny is a great example of how the story of Scarlet and Violet changes the way people usually think about Pokemon.
Jacq

At the Academy, Jacq is your friendly biology teacher in your home room. He is a brilliant researcher and made the Pokedex app that Rotom Phones use. He was first seen in Pokemon Go, and Scarlet and Violet is the first time he shows up in the main story.
Jacq is most famous for giving the chest form of Gimmighoul its name. Gimmighoul is a small Pokemon that likes to hide around the map and collect coins. You can fight Jacq in a tournament after the game is over to see why he is a teacher at the academy.
Professor Sada/Turo

Depending on which version of the Cuphead game you choose, Turo or Sada will be your Pokemon professor. They are a lot more mysterious than Pokemon professors of the past, and you don’t talk to them much at first. They will first contact you through a video call and help you learn more about the legendary Pokemon that decides to join you.
The professors have a strange connection to another character in the story, and you will eventually find out what their research is all about in Area Zero.
Geeta
Geeta is the chairwoman of the Paldean Pokemon League. She wears a stylish suit. When you first meet her in the Academy, she tells you that she hopes to see you again in the League. Geeta is the best Champion trainer in Paldea, and she will probably be one of the hardest trainers you face. Her dark clothes remind me of Cynthia, the Champion of the Sinnoh region, and her battle theme is great.
Geeta is the only trainer in the entire series who has ever had the class “Top Champion” in any of the games. This is probably because the Champion rank is now given to an elite group instead of a single person.
Iono

Iono is the leader of the Electric-type Gym and loves to stream. She lives in the city of Levincia, which is on the coast, and works as a well-known Paldean influencer. Iono has a friendly personality, and as a Gym Leader, she always streams her battles. She has a live-streaming channel called “Iono Zone,” and she always fights with the number of viewers in mind.
Iono has a lot more personality than most of the other Gym Leaders. Even though they are all different, Iono’s unique personality and stylish design stand out. In Her Gym Challenge, you take part in her live stream, and the way she interacts with you as you go through the challenge is what makes it different from the others.
