Kernel Linux
Android operating system is derived from Linux Kernel version 2.6. Android operating system originated from Linux source. It was compiled to enhance running in mobiles and handheld devices. A lot of similarities exist between Linux Kernel and Android operating system. Utilities involving memory management and processes management have a lot of similarities. Android makes use of multiple unique terminologies to explain methods of implementing it to develop applications. Android runs on a full version of Linux operating system. Kernel Linux is a collection of the full toolset that combines several layers in one framework. Kernel Linux platform mostly implements native code languages like C++ and C in the development of the android operating system. Several libraries are incorporated within the development platform to support easier importing o f tools applied in the development of application software (Colleen, 2014). Kernel Linux is popular in Android development due to best support in the development of games engines and applications. Application developers use kernel Linux in the implementation of signal processing applications using Android platforms.
Linux kernel achieves most of its best programming operations due to presence and ability to combine different programming technologies like Java and Javascript, which make developers implement different attributes on developed application. Kernel Linux is highly popular among developers and industries due to a high level of security and safety. Kernel Linux is not easily attacked by malware (Rupali, 2011). Data and information are secure from attack by a virus and other malicious codes.
Android SDK
Android is an open source operating system hence source code is freely accessible for developers. Android code platform for developing and implementing applications is called Android development kit (SDK). Android can be implemented through downloading Android JDK, developing an application, or downloading. Developers are recommended to download Eclipse Integrated Development Kit (IDE) to access Android library files containing Android Developer Tools (ADT) used for developing Android projects, Launching emulators, and debugging. ADT provides an extension plug-in for Eclipse IDE. Eclipse IDE provides a powerful and integrated environment for building and Android applications (Rupali, 2011). ADT apply library files of Eclipse to allow development and designing of User interfaces that implement Android applications. ADT facilitates the addition of extra packages based on Android framework application program interface (API). API provides a predefined set of rules protocols and tools used, in the development of software applications. API library files provide syntax and semantic paradigms in which systems should interact.
