In the seven major cities Delhi-NCR, Mumbai metropolitan area, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune and Hyderabad, the housing cell stood at 67,140 units in the same period last year. Enarock has reported in its report that 55,080 units have been sold in these cities in the third quarter of 2019, a decline of 20 per cent compared to the second quarter of the same year. Also, it has fallen by 18 per cent compared to the same period last year.
The largest decline in housing sale has been recorded in Bengaluru. The housing sale here was down 35 per cent to 10,500 units. In Hyderabad, it fell 32 per cent to 3280 units. Kolkata fell 27 per cent to 3120 units and Delhi-NCR declined by 13 per cent to 9830 units. Talking about Chennai, the housing cell here has fallen by 11 per cent to 2620 units and in Pune by 8 per cent to 8550 units. According to the Enarock report, the housing cell in the Mumbai metropolitan area declined by 6 per cent, to 17,180 units. In this way, 6.56 lakh units of houses have not been sold in the top seven cities.
Enarock in its report blamed the ban on the interest assistance scheme and the Shraddha Paksha for this slowness in the housing cell. New supply and housing sales were expected to decline this quarter, as both buyers and developers were avoiding risk-taking. However, Puri hoped that the efforts made by the government would increase the demand in the housing sector in the festive season and the quarters ahead. He said that by reducing the corporate tax by the government, investment will come from both domestic and foreign places Gaur City Center Noida Extension.
