Candace Parker won the gold medal at the Olympic Games twice (2008 and 2012), and was the second player in history to be hurt in the course of a WNBA game. In 2016, she was instrumental in helping the Los Angeles Sparks win their first title since 2002, and was named MVP (Most Valuable Player) in the league both in 2008 and in 2013.
The achievement comes two years after the WNBA first made an appearance in the NBA 2K video game in the 2020 edition. It goes to show that these games influenced things even though the games didn’t have nearly the customizable options or in-depth features that the next ones had.
Although the original NBA 2K received positive reviews, NBA 2K1 raised the bar. The game’s gameplay was enhanced and it was the first game to feature online multiplayer. Plus, it added iconic courts for streetball like Rucker Park to take advantage of if you’re looking for something unique from traditional arenas.
As it was designed by Sega, this series was initially available only to Dreamcast players at the time it first was launched. This changed in the year NBA 2K2 was released for PlayStation 2, Xbox and Gamecube. It opened it to a larger audience. This was an important step for the series.
This game was significant in that it was the first to introduce realistic player abilities, so shooting at the correct location on the court was important for certain players. This game would be the foundation for future installments, that would incorporate the player’s personalities. The game added new modes, improved the defense aspect and even included legends.
