The integrative model

Introduction
The quantitative approach is the method where the investigator uses postpositive claims in developing knowledge (Creswell, 2012). The approach employs strategies such as surveys and experiments and collects data on the predetermined instruments that yield statistical data. According to Corner (2002), the aim of quantitative approach is verifying the hypothesis and making use of inferential statistics.Quantitative research results tend to include numerical data for ongoing analysis (Blaikie, 2010).

The aim of this report is to explain the integrative model elements about quantitative research. In the paper, I will also explain how I can benefit from implementing two elements of the integrative model in my doctoral study.
Integrative model for quantitative research design
Patricia Doyle Corner, the author of An Integrative Model for Teaching Quantitative Research Design, use the integrative model in teaching professional about Quantitative research. The integrative model focuses on comparing across multiple elements constituting quantitative research.According to Corner (2002), the model is like a planning tool that researchers can use prior to data collection.The integrative model has three benefits to the researcher. The use of the model may save researchers time and money because the feedback mechanism facilitates the iterative refinement of the design element. The model also offers students with a picture of the research design into which they may fit individual statistical tools as they are learning. The third benefit is that the exposure to the integrative model makes student better consumers of published research.
Elements of the integrative model
The integrative model consists of five elements. The elements include build the knowledge, formulate a hypothesis, develop measures, pick analytical technique, and plan data collection.The researchers of quantitative studies must build the knowledge, formulate a hypothesis, develop a measure, pick the analytical technique, and also plan data collection.According to Corner (2012), the first element of building knowledge involves the researcher expanding their knowledge regarding the phenomenon they are studying.The first element involves the discovery process that concludes with a research question.
The second element is formulating a hypothesis. Hypothesis refers to formalized statements that specify the theoretical concepts and their invented relationships.The hypothesis is a piece of theory that helps in detailing a research question or idea. When formulating the hypothesis, it is necessary to ensure that it fits with the other elements of the model.The hypothesis tends to help in supporting the research question. The third element is developing measures, and this element involves allocating numbers to aspects of the selected phenomena specified by constructs.
