How are your New Year’s resolutions going? If you manage to stick to your plans to exercise more, then you’re in good shape – but are you thinking about Carencure for skin?
All that huffing and puffing on the treadmill might do wonders for your waistline… But while sweating is a great mini-detox for your skin, it can also have a disastrous effect – especially if your skin is prone to dryness, redness and breakouts. Would you like to leave the gym with a good feeling about your body and your skin? Then read these post-workout skin care tips!
1. Start with a clean slate
The first post-workout skin care tip is actually a simple step you can take before exercising to prevent breakouts. Be sure to give the gym equipment a quick wipe down with antibacterial wipes before you begin your session. This way you don’t transfer sweat and bacteria from others to your own skin.
2. Keep your face off
During and after your workout, if sweat is dripping off your face (we call it “glowing”), don’t wipe it off with your hands. Gently pat your skin dry with a clean towel – this is more hygienic and will also help with post-workout skin care.
3. Get naked quickly
Here comes the third post-workout skin care tip. After your workout, take off your clothes as soon as possible (we do advise you to wait until you have made it to the locker room). Your pores have a hard time breathing when they’re covered with warm, sticky gym clothes.
4. Keep a cool head
A short, lukewarm shower is the best thing you can do after exercise – hot water robs your skin of its natural oils. Use Neutral Shower Gel to wash away all dirt, oil and impurities while being gentle with your sensitive skin.
5. Don’t forget your face!
If you’re on your feet shaking during the cool down, it’s quite likely that you’re not thinking about your face for a while. Do well. For your post-workout skin care, use a gentle cleanser like Neutral Face Wash. It will gently clean your skin without drying your face and thus reduce the risk of inflammation.
It’s best to steer clear of moisturizers and other skincare products until you get home – it’s easy to overwork and flush your tired face now. Exfoliating products should never be used right after your workout – they can dry out your skin and exacerbate existing eczema and acne problems. Remember, your face is as tired as your legs; be mild.
6. Drink, drink and drink some more
Our final post-workout skin care tip is simple yet effective. Of course you drank a lot of water during your workout, but drinking water during the cooling down and afterwards is just as important. Your body loses a lot of fluid during your tour de force in the gym – and the blowing air conditioner doesn’t help either. We all know how unrelenting this can be on the skin, so before you go home, make use of the drinking fountain. And refill your bottle right away.
